The main interest of our research group is the study and optimization of attosecond pulse generation. We study the process with theoretical models.
The interaction of the laser fields with a single atom is carried out with a semi-classical (semi quantum-mechanical) model, consisting of three distinct steps.
The moment of ionization defines the possible return times and energies, hence also the time-frequency properties of the generated radiation.

The nonlinear response of a macroscopic medium is calculated with a 3D propagation model, which takes into account the distortions of the laser field during propagation. The single-atom response is then calculated in different parts of the cell using the propagated field, and the generated harmonic radiation coherently summed to obtain the response of the macroscopic medium.
