Medical image quality enhancement

 

 

Introduction:

XTOP is a simulation software, writen on MatLab platform. XTOP is used to model vascular X-ray equipments, called Innova. These equipments are used to control various cardiological, neurological interventions. The charge of this simulation tool is to predict the image quailty parameters: dose, contrast, noise, average detector exposition, etc.

Objectives:

The aim of this project is to develop a new simulation tool for vascular X-ray equipments, which gives consistent results with the measurements. This development includes the determination of the most critical system parameters (surface roughness, scatter model, detector model) and decreasement of the related deviations of the output values (SFB, contrast, dose) from measurements under 10%.

The determination of the parameters is based on Monte-Carlo simulation and measurements on vascular X-ray machines.

Required skills:
